“I have made this decision to leave myself and after a thorough consideration of all pros and cons. The reasons of this step are purely personal. I would like to continue working as a member of the City Assembly till the end of the term“ explained Herman.
Herman, as a Deputy Mayor for Economy in Hradec Králové, was responsible for making up the city budget and gaining money from European and national sources. During his time in the office as a Deputy Mayor an Integrated plan of the city development has been prepared and many measures with the aim to reduce the impact of the global economic crisis on the city budget have been accepted. On the other hand his name is linked with several unpopular steps, especially with the increase of the real estate tax or introducing the parking system in the centre of Hradec Králové.
“I highly esteem the decision of Boris Herman and I respect his reasons. It is necessary a lot of personal courage to make such a step. I would like to thank him for his work that he has done for the city Hradec Králové up till now and wish him success in his future professional life”, said the Mayor of Hradec králové, Otakar Divíšek.
Boris Herman is a member of the Civic Democratic Party (ODS) since 1991 and he was first elected as an ODS member of the City Assembly of Hradec Králové in 1998. He was elected Deputy Mayor for Economical Affairs after the communal elections in 2006. He represents Hradec Králové in bodies of several joint stock companies . He is a vice- chairman of the Board of Directors of Tepelné hospodářství Hradec Králové (thermal systems) and hockey club HC VCES Hradec Králové, chairman of the Supervisory Board of Letecké služby a.s. (air services), member of the Supervisory Board of Magnalink and member of the Management Board of the endowment fund for the development of the city Hradec Králové.
At the 42nd meeting of the City Assembly held on 23rd February a new member of the City Council was elected. It is the member of the City Assembly Lenka Zídková (ODS). The position of the Deputy Mayor for Economy is for now vacant.
