The Most Important Events Taking Place In June 2017

The city of Hradec Králové chooses for Calendarium Regina prestigious and unique events, often of national or even international importance. It offers town residents as well as visitors the chance to participate in cultural, sporting and social events of a varied nature which take place in the city and its close vicinity the whole year round.

PARDUBICE - HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ FOLKLORE FESTIVAL
2. - 4. 6. 2017  /  Žižka’s Park, Adalbertinum, Klicpera Theatre, Šrámek Farm in Piletice
This year for the twenty-sixth time, good neighbours and fans of folklore will come together in Pardubice and Hradec Králové. Please accept our cordial invitation to the Pernštýn Night in Pardubice, to a dance spectacle in Žižka’s Park in Hradec Králové, to the Klicpera Theatre to admire stage forms of folklore and to a folk party at Šrámek’s Farm in Piletice as well as the Sunday meeting of ensembles at Pardubice Castle.

HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ CYCLOMARATHON
4. 6. 2017 / Hradec Králové Multi-sports Stadium
The Hradec Králové Cyclomarathon is one of the largest cycling events in the Czech Republic, also offering routes of 30km and 60km. Not forgetting the youngest ones, organisers have prepared a Children’s Cup race for up to 250 children from Hradec Králové and its environs. This year a medal will await each participant at the finish line.

CZECH CHOIR FESTIVAL • HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ 2017
7. - 11. 6. 2017  / Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary, Holy Spirit Cathedral etc.
Thanks to its unique concept the Czech Choir Festival has ranked among the largest and most prestigious festivals of its kind in the Czech Republic for several years. Every year one week in June is devoted to different categories of choirs (boys’ choirs, mixed voice choirs, youth choirs, vocal ensembles etc.).

EUROBASKET WOMEN 2017 - EUROPEAN WOMEN'S BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
16. - 25. 6. 2017 / Winter Stadium
The Czech Basketball Federation is the organizer of the 2017 European Women’s Basketball Championship. This championship will be held in two cities, namely Prague and Hradec Králové from June 16th to 25th 2017. The first rounds will be played at the Hradec Králové Winter Stadium and Královka Hall in Prague. The final matches will take place at the O2 Arena in Prague. The FIBA Women's European Championship is the second most important event in the world of women’s basketball, to be seen on European soil.

OPEN SKIES FOR HANDICAPPED 2017
17. 6. 2017  /  Hradec Králové Airport
The 10th year of the Open Skies for Handicapped Event (OSH 2017). The project aims at organising sightseeing flights for people with disabilities spiced up with a whole-day supporting programme, also targeting the general public. Admission and parking are free for all visitors.

COMPETITION GROUNDS OF THE ROSARIUM - INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION FOR NEW ROSE VARIETIES
17. - 18. 6. 2017  /  Kukleny Rosarium
The thirty-fourth year of the international competition focusing on new rose varieties. The latest roses of top-class cultivators from Belgium, Denmark, France, Holland, Ireland Germany, Poland and other countries. In just this one place you will find up to 200 varieties totalling over 1,000 plants and you might get an idea about the surprisingly wide range of shapes as well as the potential for the use of roses, these beautiful flowers, both ancient and modern, flowers, which after years of a certain pause have again started to conquer our gardens and parks. The Rosarium will remain open also for the public, in the following two weeks, i. e. until Sunday July 2nd 2017.

GAUDEAMUS THEATRUM / INTERNATIONAL MEETING OF THEATRICAL SCHOOLS
20. - 23. 6. 2017 /  Drak Theatre
The target of the international MEETING of theatrical schools is to create an area for the mutual encounters of students, teachers and theatre folk from various corners of the world. The MEETING helps to build up the image of Hradec Králové as an important cultural and European student centre and has contributed to a significant increase in making the Hradec Králové cultural environment more visible in a positive sense.

INTERNATIONAL THEATRE FESTIVAL – THEATRE OF EUROPEAN REGIONS AND HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ OPEN AIR PROGRAMME
23. - 30. 6. 2017  /  Klicpera Theatre, Drak Theatre, historical City Centre
The international festival – Theatre of European Regions in Hradec Králové is the largest theatrical event in the Czech Republic and is co-organised by the Klicpera Theatre company, Drak Theatre and International Institute of Figurative Theatre company p.b.o. and kontrapunkt, a registered association, that stands behind the Open Air Programme. By joining forces together these three entities make the international festival – Theatre of European Regions not only spice up the whole city for ten days, but even more importantly, attract large numbers of theatrical people to Hradec Králové thus presenting to the general as well as professional public a wide range of projects and theatre productions of various styles and genres. The Open Air Programme, which since 2000 has been a traditional part of the international festival – Theatre of European Regions, is a non-competitive presentation of predominantly theatrical art of domestic and foreign production, which owing to its artistic openness and easily comprehendible content has acquired a unique standing within the territory of the CR. Performances are shown on nearly 20 open stages in the historical city centre. Every year the Open Air Programme attracts about 45 thousand spectators on average along with 150 theatrical ensembles and individual performers, who will stage up to 200 performances.

THE 151ST ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF HRADEC KRÁLOVÉ
30. 6. – 1. 7. 2017 / city streets, battlefield of Chlum
The Königgrätz 1866 – 2017 project is a continuation of the tradition of remembrance events commemorating the Austro-Prussian War of 1866. Aiming at giving the general public an interesting outline of the historic circumstances, the event honours the memory of the fallen and wishes to remind us that it was here near Hradec Králové where in 1866 an important piece of history occurred changing the shape of Europe's development until the present day. The project hopes to shed some light on the tradition, history, culture and way of life in these historically significant times, culminating in the re-enactment of battle scenes, which are considered to be the very best in the European concept of these engagements.
