I. Walking Route “Historical Town” – brown colour
The 2.5 km-long route around the historical town takes over 1.5 hours at a gentle walking pace. The first of the 13 stops can be found in front of the Tourist Information Centre on the Large Square close to the Holy Spirit Cathedral. When strolling through the old town and its romantic spots you will see the best of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque styles.
II. Walking Route “Salon of the Republic” – colour silver
The 3.5 km-long route around the modern city takes about 2 hours at a gentle walking pace. The first of the 11 stops can be found in front of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia on Eliška’s Embankment. While strolling along the monumental embankments and pedestrian boulevards you will come to realise why the unique urban concept and structures designed by Kotěra, Gočár and other significant architects of the early 20th century led to the city deservedly being named the Salon of the Republic.
III. Walking Route “Stronghold” – colour red
The 5.5 km-long route exploring the former Baroque stronghold takes over 2.5 hours at a gentle walking pace. The first of the 11 stops can be found in front of the Museum of Eastern Bohemia on Eliška’s Embankment. Only a few structures have been preserved from the Baroque stronghold, which was demolished after the 1866 Battle near Hradec Králové, and our walking route will take you to 20 of them.
IV. Walking Route “Contemporary Architecture” – colour black
The 7 km-long route exploring the architecture of the late 20th and early 21st century takes about 3 hours at a gentle walking pace. The first of the 12 stops can be found above the Náplavka Elbe Riverbank on Svobody Square. Do not hesitate to enter the modern premises of the Public Transport Terminal or the Study and Research Library or enjoy the refreshing greenery of Šimek’s Park and the Southern Terraces of the bustling city.
